<< I hate spyware. >> I'm having spyware problems today. see, I downloaded what I thought was a legitimate program today, installed it, and then reaized that I'm an idiot. and by that I mean I realized that is wasn't a legit program at all, it was a big bundle of spyware. Now I'm not one of those people who scans for spyware weekly/daily/hourly or anything. In fact, remember before when I was complaining about formating? Well since then, I not only havn't scanned for spyware, but I hadn't installed any spyware removal software, or spyware blaster, which if you don't know is this awesome little free program that stops a lot of spyware form being installed in the first place. it's awesome. anyway, I'd installed nothing. so this morning when i was stupid, I first went through add/remove programs, got rid of the crap that was showing in there, then installed, updated and ran spybot - search and distroy. 80 items. eeps. removed them all. updated and ran it again - no items. perfect. downloaded, installed, updated and ran ad-aware. 234 items. good lord. mostly traching cookies, but still. went through add/remove again. found another item or two I'd forgotten. Downloaded, installed, updated and ran spyware blaster. blocked all bad stuff it knew about. yay! thought, "okay, now I should be good." WRONG. started playing on the internet and these two stupid pop ups kept comming up. over and over and over and...well, you get the picture. damn it. so, okay, check add/remove again. there were two things that sounded like they were real things that were suposed to be there, but I wasn't sure. A google search confirmed that they were infact 'good' programs. so I download another spyware remover program that was not so free, but it allowed me one free trial scan/removal. sweet. I forget the name and I've already uninstalled it, so..yeah. anyway, I download/install/run that. 72 item. will it ever stop? remove those. 5 items can not be removed, will remove on next reboot. okay...reboot computer. removed 5 items successfuly. yay! now, so far so good. i'm doing a free AV scan at Trend Micro because my norton hasn't worked right in forever and a half, and I'm mad at it and havn't bothered to download/install AVG yet. Hey neat, it also now has a built in spyware scan. sweet! so anyway, I don't think I have a virus, but you can't be too careful. because people who create viruses are jerks. and by that I mean sneaky and always creating new, sneaker viruses, and...well, they're jerks. If you are a virus creater, then I have only one thing to say to you: You're a Jerk. A real Asshole. So there. and, okay that was two things, but I'm going to pretend they were one, and so are you. Oh good, it's already found three threats. I'm willing to bet that they're spyware, and not viruses, though.
